Morgan Bergstrom
Research Associate
Morgan Bergstrom is a Research Associate in FAMM’s Office of General Counsel. Morgan primarily focuses on the federal system and conducts rigorous legal research and produces clear, accurate legal analysis to advance the organization’s clemency, compassionate release, and second chances initiatives. She also develops written material, including legislative memos, advocacy briefs, and educational resources to help inform policy strategy.
After law school, Morgan was a public defender in West Palm Beach, Florida. Prior to joining FAMM, she worked at Disability Rights Florida where she represented clients across the state in a range of legal proceedings, including administrative complaints, Medicaid administrative fair hearings, and state and federal litigation.
Morgan is an alumna of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she graduated with honors and helped lead a creative writing workshop for women in a local county jail, interned for a federal magistrate judge, and was on the board of her pre-law student group. After her undergraduate studies, she attended Duke University School of Law where she earned her J.D. and a certificate in Public Interest & Public Service Law.
At Duke Law, she was a staff editor for the Duke Journal of Comparative & International Law, executive vice president of the Women Law Student Association, and a member of the Duke Law Innocence Project communications and podcast team. During law school, Morgan interned with FAMM, the Center for Death Penalty Litigation, was a student attorney in the Duke Environmental Law & Policy Clinic, and conducted research on U.S. federal corporate prosecutions.
Outside of work, Morgan enjoys spending time with her husband and her dog. You can also always find her with a ball of yarn since she loves to knit and crochet.
